Dr. Yury Kissin

Biographical Sketch for Yury

Dr. Yury Kissin has extensive work history spanning over 50 years in the field of polymer science. He has conducted research in academia and industry including the Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Science, the Gulf Research and Development Company, the Mobil Chemical Company, and he is currently a visiting scientist at Rutgers University.

Dr. Kissin’s area of expertise encompasses a broad range of chemical transformations including:

  • Ziegler-Natta polymerization.
    • Development, synthesis, and characterization of Ziegler-Natta/metallocene catalysts.
    • Polymerization of ethene, α-olefins, and associated copolymerizations.
    • Kinetic analysis of coordination polymerization systems.
    • Modeling of commercial polymerizations.
    • Molecular structure and property analysis of the associated polyolefin products.
  • Cracking and related transformations of hydrocarbons.
    • Kinetics and mechanistic interpretation of petroleum conversion chemistry.

Dr. Kissin obtained an M.S. in chemistry from the Moscow Institute of Fine Chemical Technology and a Ph.D. in polymer chemistry from the Russian Academy of Science. He has an impressive list of publications including five books, 250 articles in the peer-reviewed literature, and 20 articles in chemical/polymer encyclopedias. Dr. Kissin is an inventor on 67 patents, and has received the A. N. Marquis “Who’s Who” Lifetime Achievement Award.
